The National Youth Agency worked in partnership with Barclays since 2010, leading on a whole series of employability and financial capability programmes for disadvantaged young people.

We created volunteering opportunities for Barclays’ employees to use their knowledge and professional skills on a range of different projects which benefit young people.

Working with their established network of youth partners NYA focussed on employability, enterprise and life skills, creating opportunities for Barclays’ employees to use their skills in ways which have maximum impact on young people.

Barclays’ employees have real life experience of working for a successful international business and provided insights and advice to help inspire young people considering their career choices. Working in retail banking also provides expertise in finance which gave young people a greater understanding of budgeting and the common financial pitfalls young people may encounter.

 

Impact

In partnership with Barclays we have:

  • Provided 236,403 young people with financial skills, enterprise and employability support.
  • Engaged and supported more than 1,070 Barclays employees to actively volunteer to support young people.

 

 

With NYA, we’re empowering youth with financial management and literacy skills, increasing training and employment opportunities, ultimately helping the next generation contribute to longer-term growth in the economy
